1.Grow your blog through guest posting.

Guest posting on other blogs is plain genius.

Guest posting is simply submitting an article to another blogger to post on their website.

Why should you consider Guest posting as a way to grow your blog?

  • Exposure

You get exposed to other audiences which means more people get to visit your blog.

  • Link Building

You build backlinks to your blog which is very good for SEO and you establish yourself as an authority in your field which means you increase your online visibility. If you get to guest post on a quality site your blog rates better.

  • Guest posting boosts your Traffic

Overall when your blog traffic grows so do your audience.

Guest posting can be a very effective way to grow your blog if done right. Here is how to do it right

a. Know your audience

You want to guest post on blogs in the same niche as you. It makes sense to write for blogs where you’re content will be relevant to their audience otherwise all the hard work will amount to zero.

b. Include a bio

In most cases, for guest posts you will include a short bio. Briefly introduce yourself. You can link to a specific blog post, your blog in general or if you are looking to grow your email list you can link the landing page where you are hosting your freebie.

c. Interact

Once you send out your article, don’t stop there. Take some time and respond to the comments. This will easily make them check out your blog.

d. You need to submit high-quality content.

Send out your best article.

Use this opportunity as a way to sell yourself. Since your audience is similar, writing great content shouldn’t be an issue because you already know the problems they are facing.

Remarkable content will always leave the reader wanting more and compel them to check out the author’s blog (which is you)  for more.

If possible write evergreen content. This  remains valuable and relevant months and years down the line. Evergreen content will keep bringing you new audience for a long time.

2. Write great content

Another way to grow your blog is by writing great content. It’s true when they say content is king meaning it’s everything. Can make or break your website.

You can have the most expensive theme or spend the whole time promoting your content but if it’s not valuable then no one will be interested and it will be a waste of time.

It’s all about blogging smart, not hard.

What do I mean by great content?

The key to putting out great content is knowing your audience.

Who are you writing for?

If you know your audience then you will be able to write content valuable to them. Understand what your audience is struggling with then give them a solution through your posts.

Do you want people to keep coming back to your blog? Give them what they are searching for. Do away with the me mentality as you write your content and focus more on your audience.

  • Quality over quantity

Don’t put yourself under the pressure of posting every day or 4 times a week if it’s hard for you.

Instead of posting 4 short posts you can opt for 2 detailed posts. This means you will have more time to do research and craft a well-detailed post.

Come up with an editorial calendar and stick to it.

The easiest way to have that reader stick around is by being consistent with your posting.

Google loves long posts. Aim to write posts with at least 1000 words or more.

  • Format your content

Make it scannable.

People are always on the go and most of them don’t have the patience to read every word so make it easy for them.

Use short paragraphs, subheadings, bullets, and numbers.

Avoid distracting backgrounds like pictures. Stick to white and have lots of white space.

  • Pay attention to your Headline.

Craft catchy titles one that compels someone to click.Your blog title is the first thing that someone sees and it is what will set you apart from other bloggers too.Remember you need to use all the tricks you can tostand out in the blogsphere.

3.Pinterest

I love Pinterest. It’s the best place to put your content out there.

Through Pinterest, you can be able to attract new readers, promote your blog and massively grow your traffic.

The biggest mistake that new bloggers make is thinking of  Pinterest as a social media platform instead of a search engine. Every topic under the sun you can find it on Pinterest.

Below are a few basics to help you get started on Pinterest.

  • Create a business account

This is super easy. Just go to www.pinterest.com  and create a business account.

If you already have a personal account you can easily convert it to a business. The benefit of having a business account compared to a personal one is that you can be able to check out your analytics and see what is working and not working.

As you fill in your descriptions and after your name use keywords.

For example, mine is

JuelzJohn | Blogging tips+ Christian living, Productivity tips, Faith

My description is : Helping you lead a fulfilling life.Everything from making money blogging, more blogging tips, productivity tips and ways to grow your faith.

See my Pinterest profile here to see what I mean.

Having keywords is very important because it  makes it easy for you to be found. Pinterest gets an idea of what your account is all about and they recommend your account to other people. That’s what you see when you scroll down

  • Enable rich pins

Check out this post on how to enable rich pins. Rich pins are better because they stand out.

  • Create boards and join group boards

To get started create at least 10 boards and pin at least 15 pins to each personal board.

Make sure that most boards are in line with your blog topics but if you have other boards that your audience wouldn’t be interested in just make them secrets and only you will see them.

Make sure that on all your boards you fill in the description with keywords too.

Have one board that is specific to your blog content.

For example, I have a board called Best of Juelz where I only pin content from my blog.

  • Create eye-catching pins

I create all my graphics on canva which is very simple.

Make sure your pins are atleast 600px by 900px

Make sure your picture isn’t so over powerful, use overlays, use clear fonts and bright colors. Most people are mobile, it’s nice to check how your pins are appearing on your phone too.

  • Pin both manually and by using a scheduling tool.

Pinterest loves when you pin manually. Rewards the time spent on the platform.

Pin as much as you can both on your own boards and on the group boards. Also, repin other people pin.

Some people believe in the 80/20 meaning that is other/your own pin but I don’t follow that rule because I need to pin and circulate more of my pins.

Let’s face it, you can’t be online throughout to pin and that’s why a scheduling tool comes in handy. This means you can schedule your pins for a week or even longer and they will automatically be pinned.

I use tailwind which is a scheduling tool approved and recommended by Pinterest. Tailwind will help you grow your Pinterest presence.

Use my link and get a free month tailwind trial.

To get maximum results pin from source board, the following tab, the trending tab, from your activity sections, repin other people’s pin

By now you must have heard these 2 phrases over and over again “you should grow your email list from day one” and “money is in the list”.

Email list can grow your blog tremendously.

Through your email list, you get to connect with your audience on one on one basis. You get to build meaningful relationships with them. Email list is personal meaning you are able to connect with your readers more.

Your email list is worth $1-$2 per subscriber if you nurture it well. For example, if you have about 5000 subscribers that will be about $5000 – $10,000. Now you see how an email list can grow your blog.
